Philippine Airlines has chosen IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, the carrier and software provider said. The implementation is intended to cover the airline's domestic and international cargo operations and form part of PAL's broader modernisation programme.

According to the announcement, iCargo will support cargo movements across both networks. That includes international requirements such as customs reporting, settlement of duties and taxes, and regulatory compliance. IBS Software said the platform already serves carriers with a similar combination of domestic and international demands, giving it the flexibility and scale to manage both.

The transition is expected to help PAL address operational requirements in cargo, including system performance and data analytics. iCargo is also positioned to provide faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention and supporting more efficient processes.

Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in modernising the cargo business. He said that as the airline grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and enables a better customer experience. Siy added that PAL sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
